“You are my blessing from God.
It’s not good to swear
But I swear you are my standout blessing from God
I thank God for bringing you my way
I value you so much, this girl
You are my treasure
Babe, I love you so much……..”

Lol. Okay, what is this? You’re probably wondering that. This is about love and friendship.

Larry Flynt said, “The two most misused words in the entire English vocabulary are love and friendship. A true friend would die for you, so when you start trying to count them on one hand, you don’t need any fingers”

You may meet a person and instantly know that you will be best friends forever. At the same time, in other instances, other friendships develop over an extended period of time. In some friendship, you may feel a sense of equality, while in others there may be a clear sense that one is giving more to the friendship than the other. Well, I got to discover that there are no rules about how a friendship has to be. If you are able to share your life with another human being, by all means go right ahead! All friendships are unique and special in their own way. Each one is valuable.

The quote above was from my best friend. It came out of the blue, of course. Something I absolutely didn’t expect, not like she has never told me how much I meant to her but it hit deeper and I want to share because my friendship with this amazing lady is one I never expected to happen and considering that I like to plan and be in control, I get to be a child and find a safe haven in her.

Reading this right now, I’m guessing you all have someone at least in mine. Parent. Colleague. Classmate. Pastor. Therapist. Jesus.

I could write about how you were always there and stood by me and all that, but no. NO. NO. That is because looking at what kept us for eight years, it is something I can’t seem to wrap my head around.

My friendship reminds me of this song by Alan Jackson titled “What a Friend we have in Jesus”

I look at my best friend and I’m like, “what did I do to deserve this goodness?” I look at my family (the days they are not annoying anyway, loll) and I thank God because I didn’t choose the family and the family didn’t choose me and we have found a way to really love one another.

And the thought of how lucky I am, pops up when I think about Jesus. What have I ever done to deserve him? I’m far from perfection. Loll

Jesus has always stood by me whenever I needed help, moments that I thought I would never get through. It has not always been easy living life as per his will and plan and I’m still learning of course.

Best friend, I hope you keep being my best friend. I hope the circumstances of life don’t separate us. And if they do, I hope they leave us happy with each other.

“One who has unreliable friends soon comes to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother” Proverbs 18:24

So I guess, we all have a stage where we kind of need to weed through who so want to be a true friend.
