The foundation of Christianity is Faith. Believing that my son is your personal Lord and Saviour. Believing the foundation that I sent him to die for you so you can be saved.
The complete trust and confidence in me.
Hebrews 11:1-3 says that, “the fundamental fact of existence is that this trust in God, this faith, is the firm foundation under everything that makes life worth living. It is our handle on what we can’t see. The act of faith is what distinguished our ancestors, set them above the crowd. By faith, we see the world called into existence by God’s word, what we see created by what we don’t see.”
My child, I know trusting me can be difficult especially with what the world is throwing at you.
But I want you to know that faith in me is not a feeling. It is in doing.
I’ll use a story in the bible to illustrate what trusting me is like: Matthew 14:28-31 when Peter asked Jesus to allow him walk on water. My son told him to go ahead. So he did. But this is the interesting part in Verse 29-30 which says “Jumping out of the boat, Peter walked on the water to Jesus. But when he looked down at the waves churning beneath his feet, he lost his nerve and started to sink. He cried, ‘Master, save me!’ Jesus did not hesitate. He reached down and grabbed his hand. Then he said, ‘Faint-heart, what got into you?’
Just like Peter, you ask for my help to do extraordinary things as you have heard Jesus do. Just like my son said in John 14:12 “I tell you the truth, anyone who believes in me will do the same works I have done, and even greater works, because I am going to be with the Father.”
By redemption, I have instilled in you the ability to do exploits so it is in you to want to do the ‘impossible’. The moment you took the step of giving your life to me, you acted in faith in obedience to my instructions in Romans 10:9 that says, “If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”
And you did.
Just like Peter, you ‘walked on water’. You did what your natural self wouldn’t do. Can you relate, child?
Then the waves came. You took your eyes off me and looked at the waves. Then you fell.
Child, your feelings are not your reality. While Peter walked on water before he fell, he was scared but he had his eyes on me. Jesus was scared but he had his eyes on me in Matthew 26:39. Abraham was scared but he had his eyes on me in Genesis 22.
I have made promises to you. Faith is the anchor that leads you to the promises.
Be still and trust me, that’s all I ask.
Mark 5:36 says, “Don’t be afraid, just believe”
I john 5:5 says, “Who is it that overcomes the world? Only the one who believes that Jesus is the son of God.”
2 Corinthians 5:7 says, “For we walk by faith, not by sight.”
Child, your faith is very important because you cannot please me without faith. To come to me, you have to believe that I exist and that I will reward you who earnestly seek me.
I am too faithful to you. I am for you. Your faith must always rest in my power, not wisdom of men. It is what I say is possible, you must believe.
You have to be on guard. Be firm in the faith! Be courageous! Be strong!
Luke 17:6 says, “The Lord answered, “if you have faith even as small as a mustard seed, you could say to this mulberry tree, ‘May you be uprooted and be planted in the sea’ and it would obey you!”
Child, it is okay that you don’t always understand the things I do. Your faith must continue to grow.
The waves will come. John 16:33 says, “I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.”
You will never be tempted beyond your ability. Whatever seems overwhelming right now is nothing. My plans for you are of good. I will never forget you. Whatever you are going through is for your good. Believe I have your best interest at heart.
Eyes have not seen, ears have not heard and it has not entered the heart of man the things I have prepared for you.
Believe in me!
Fix your gaze on me, not the waves. That is the only way to grow.
Faith wins all battles, child.
I am the Lord your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, ‘Do not fear, I will help you’
